Jimmy Choi is a marathoner, social media influencer, and one-time contestant on American Ninja Warrior (in 2017), who was diagnosed with young-onset Parkinson’s in 2003 at age 27. For several years, he says, he “did nothing” to manage his symptoms. But after falling down a flight of stairs while carrying his son (they were not hurt), he started channeling his energy into exercise. He has since run over 100 half-marathons and 15 full marathons while raising more than $240,000 for Parkinson’s research. On his accounts on TikTok (@jcfoxninja) and Instagram (@jcfoxninja), he posts everything from motivational content to tips and tricks for folks living with Parkinson’s to workout regimens for people with or without Parkinson’s.

Sachin Kapur, MD, is a movement disorder neurologist who has practiced in the Chicagoland area for the past eight years. Through his clinic’s TikTok account, he and his staff offer Parkinson’s “tips of the day” and demonstrate how to use adaptive tools for getting in and out of the car, putting on and taking off shoes and socks, buttoning buttons, eating when you have tremor, cutting food, combing hair, writing, and exercising.
7. On Time: A Parkinson’s Podcast
Hosted by Brian Grant and Heather Kennedy, both of whom were diagnosed with young-onset Parkinson’s, On Time discusses such topics as how it feels to have Parkinson’s and how to talk to about it with other people. Grant was an NBA player from 1994 to 2006 and received his diagnosis two years after retiring. In 2010, he founded the Brian Grant Foundation, which is dedicated to providing tools to improve the well-being of people with Parkinson’s. Heather Kennedy is a motivational speaker, writer, and blogger who was diagnosed with Parkinson’s in 2011. She works to raise awareness surrounding Parkinson’s, particularly about the day-to-day challenges of living with the disease. When Life Gives You Parkinson’s is hosted by Larry Gifford and presented by Parkinson Canada. Gifford is a long-time radio professional, husband, and father who was diagnosed with Parkinson’s at age 45. The podcast covers all aspects of Parkinson’s, including advocacy, tips for coping with symptoms of the disease, news and information about treatments and research, and Gifford’s own experiences with Parkinson’s. Many of the episodes include interviews with other Parkinson’s advocates.
